Nearly 200 homes to be secured against burglars in North Bradford

Hundreds of homes across North Bradford are being secured to help protect them against thieves as part of a major spring blitz to beat burglars.

CASAC (Community Action and Support Against Crime), along with North Bradford Neighbourhood Policing Team, Incommunities and Lower Grange Community Association are reinforcing nearly 200 houses in the area as part of a £25,000 Safer Home Project.

Neil Goldup, Chief Executive of CASAC which is one of the country’s leading social enterprises, said: “This is a major undertaking from all the partners and we are very proud to be associated with it.

“We have the track record in securing homes to help deliver this ambitious project.”

Research shows that once CASAC secures a home it’s very unlikely that a burglar will gain entry.

Also involved in the project are Accent Housing, Places For People and Bradford Council.

Work began last month and will see authorities upgrade 184 homes in Allerton and Lower Grange with improved security measures.

The houses themselves have been identified as the ones which could most benefit from the security upgrade in what has become one of the largest initiatives of its type ever seen in the area.

Inspector Steve Greenbank, of the North Bradford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Crime prevention is one of the very best ways we have of helping residents keep their homes safe and beating burglars and we have been very pleased to work with partners on this project.”

Alex Dilger, Lower Grange Community Development Worker with Incommunities, said: “This project has reduced vulnerability and built greater confidence in communities by providing simple but effective targeted crime prevention measures for all.”
