What does CASAC Check Point do for customers?

Is your house in need of repair?

Don’t know who to trust?

CASAC - Leeds Check Point works across the West Yorkshire District to protect householders, (especially older adults, disabled, or vulnerable people) from bogus and ‘cowboy’ workmen, by providing a safe, secure and reliable source of tradesmen, when you need repairs, maintenance, or improvements carrying out to your home.

Although opportunist traders (door knockers offering to fix the loose tile, tarmac the drive, or trim the trees) are a major source of complaints, even invited ones can overcharge for jobs, or do more work than is actually required.

We believe that all of our tradesmen are honest, reliable people who do good quality work at a fair market price. Because we are not a discounted or subsidised service they may not be the cheapest you can find, but they will do a good job, and will not rip you off. In just over 6 years of operation over 20,000 jobs have been requested and referred to the companies registered with us.

The tradesmen and companies we refer to you have all been through a stringent checking process which includes:

  • Obtaining three references from customers who have had jobs done in the last 12 months.
  • Checking with Trading Standards to see if any complaints have been logged against them.
  • Police Checks on all the workers who visit homes for any relevant convictions.
  • Company accounts are inspected to ensure proper registration and trading.
  • Public Liability insurance certificate is seen to ensure they are properly insured for work undertaken

To ensure that the standards we expect from our registered tradesmen are being maintained, monthly checks and assessments are carried out on all the companies on our list by sending out questionnaires to a proportion of the customers who have used our service. If any problems are identified, we can, and do, remove tradesmen from our register.

HOW DOES CASAC CHECK POINT WORK?

When you telephone CASAC Check Point, careful details of the job are recorded.  We then ask an appropriate tradesman to telephone you (within two working days of your call) to make an appointment to do the job if it’s a small one, or to give you an estimate for larger jobs. If the advice and estimate given are acceptable, you can contract the tradesman to do the work for you, or, reject the estimate if you wish.

Our tradesmen, companies, and contractors should be able to do all the normal repair, maintenance, and home improvement jobs you need doing to your home, everything from a dripping tap to a house extension.

Don’t employ ‘Door Knockers’ Call CASAC Check Point – We’re here to help YOU!
