Distraction burglary packages

Distraction burglary is a dreadful crime, which is targeted at some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. The term distraction burglary is used to cover crimes where a burglar or conman (or woman) uses a variety of stories to gain access to someone’s home in order to steal. They call to your door and may pretend to be someone from the local council, gas, water or electricity company and give a good excuse for needing to enter your home. Usually the caller will distract your attention while an accomplice rifles through your home unseen.

CASAC Burglary Reduction will complete a full security assessment for each individual property. A further assessment will be done with a view to fitting the following:

  • a video intercom for people who find it difficult to answer the door and leave it unlocked for visitors as a result
  • an audio intercom, to enable clients to check who is at the door before opening it
  • a key safe can be fitted onto an outside wall, to provide family members/carers access to the property, without the door being left unlocked.
